ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position under the WFP External Relations Office of the Partnership, Governance and Advocacy Division. The position will be based at our Headquarters in Rome, Italy, starting as soon as possible.
JOB PURPOSE
The selected candidate will be assisting the WFP Partnership, Governance and Advocacy Division  with the following key duties:
  • Assist in preparations for Committee on World Food Security meetings on topics such as but not limited to the Sustainable Development Goals, nutrition and support to smallholder farmers.
  • Support monitoring, data collection and knowledge management: including updating the RBA Collaboration Database on a regular basis; and keeping track on global RBA initiatives; 
  • Assist in maintaining a network of RBA focal points at both HQ and regional level;
  • Assist in updating internal guidelines such as but not limited to: RBA Collaboration Guidance Material; relevant sections in the Project Design Manual for Country Strategies / projects, etc.;
  • Assist in strengthening on-going partnerships with the Rome-based agencies at all levels;
  • Keep abreast of FAO and IFAD policies and programmes and undertake research upon request;
  • Attend meetings, take notes, prepare briefs, reports and statements, and alert management on strategic issues;
  • Assist in analysing various documents and preparing comments from a PGR perspective;
  • Perform other duties as required.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 12 months in the following:   political science, international development, development economics, international relations, communications or other related field;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
  • Fluent in English;
  • General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations and procedures governing administration;
  • Knowledge of the Committee on World Food Security and the other Rome-based Agencies would be an asset;
  • Strong writing skills,  Coordination and advocacy skills in inter-governmental /inter-agency processes.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the amount of US$700 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.  The current amount for Rome is around US$600.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, travel to and from WFP internship location, necessary visas and costs related.

Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers (Japan Award) 2017

 Overview


This annual award, which began in 2007, is organized and presented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan. Its purpose is to increase motivation among young researchers contributing to research and development in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and related industries in developing regions, which is promoted by Japan for the benefit of those countries. Up to three young researchers who have shown
  1. outstanding performance in research and development in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, or related industries for a developing region, and who show great promise
  2. outstanding achievements in research and development that will lead to future technological innovation in agriculture, forestry, fisheries or related industries for a developing area, and who show great promise
will be invited to Japan to attend the commendation ceremony this November and accept their awards and cash gifts (US$5,000 will be given per awardee).

 Eligibility

  1. Should be under the age of 40 (as of January 1, 2017)
  2. Should be researchers who have the nationality of developing countries and/or territories, belong to a non-Japanese research institute or a non-Japanese university

International Grant Program 2017 by The Toyota Foundation

The grant program focuses on deepening mutual understanding and knowledge-sharing among people on the ground in East and Southeast Asia who are finding solutions to shared issues. Through promoting direct interaction among key players, the grant program aims to survey and analyze situations in target countries, obtain new perspectives, and expand the potential of future generations.


With multinational teams comprised of participants from diverse backgrounds, projects can avoid conventional linear relationships, such as “supporter and supported” or “instructor and trainee,” and instead form cooperative and creative alliances that consider, act on, and construct solutions to shared issues. The grant program anticipates that these partnerships, which extend beyond such factors as nationality, age, and organizational affiliation, will produce significant social change through fostering a process of mutual learning.

​The Young Ambassadors Programme (YAP)

The “Young Ambassadors Programme” (YAP) is part of the European Project of Initiatives of Change (IofC), which aims to bring together young people caring about the future of Europe.

The programme consists of two days training designed specifically for the Young Ambassadors (14th-16th July), followed by full participation in the AEUB forum (17th-21st July).

We offer
  1. An opportunity for young Europeans to grow in their personal understanding and commitment to Europe, shared ethical values and one’s personal contribution to a better future.
  2. Experience the Conference Centre at Caux, Switzerland, as a place of reflection that provides an opportunity to listen to others and to oneself.
  3. Strengthen the network of committed Europeans who are working towards change starting with themselves.

About the AEUB Forum and Caux-IofC

Launched in 2014, Addressing Europe’s Unfinished Business (AEUB) is an Initiatives of Change programme that seeks to engage European citizens from all backgrounds to conceive and participate in actions developing a spirit of partnership and solidarity across Europe in order to achieve the needed peacebuilding efforts in this continent.

The CAUX-Initiatives of Change Foundation’s vision is a just, peaceful and sustainable world in which people act from a sense of global interdependence and responsibility. Established in 1946, the CAUX-Initiatives of Change Foundation (CAUX-IofC) organizes and coordinates international and local forums, seminars and training in Switzerland, primarily in its Conference Centre, the former Caux-Palace, bringing together a true diversity of people.

CAUX-IofC provides a safe space to inspire, equip and connect individuals, groups and organisations from around the globe to engage effectively and innovatively in the promotion of trust, ethical leadership, sustainable living and human security.

Who should apply

This programme aims to invite young people from all over Europe who are actively and substantively contributing in the discussion about Europe. Young people who demonstrate their active participation through civil society initiatives, NGOs, political organisations and structures are invited to join this forum in order to bring their input, ideas and experiences.

Young people age 18-25 from countries who are members of the Council of Europe, plus Kosovo*, Kazakhstan and Belarus can apply (see the full list of the countries below).

People from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including recently arrived migrants, as well as representatives of minority communities. Should you wish to represent any minority community or group, please specify in your application.

Applicants for the Young Ambassadors Programme are expected to fulfil the below:


  • Be present at Caux from 14th July 2017 (4pm) and not leave before the end of the Closing Session on Friday 21st  July, 2017 (12.30pm);
  • Be actively involved in civil society and other initiatives related to Europe;
  • Be able to communicate and work in English;
  • Be motivated to contribute to developing new ideas on Europe;
  • Be ready to share own challenges faced in their own communities and work about Europe;

Scholarships

The program provides scholarships for participation.
