"A good proposal, for better chance try getting IELTS with minimum 6.5 bands, a good motivation letter and strong recommendations as well. Contacting supervisor will be an added benefit, but it is not mandatory. Usually, interviewing panel decides about your supervisor after looking at your proposal and interview. But, if you are lucky enough to find a supervisor ready to supervise will increase your chances for fellowship or post graduate studentship."

Sakura Exchange Program for Pakistani Educational Institutions


Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) annually offers “Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science” (SAKURA Exchange Program in Science). This program aims to promote exchanges between young Asian researchers and Japanese researchers in fields of science and technology through the close collaboration of industry-academia-government by facilitating short-term visits of competent Asian youths to Japan for studying and experiencing cutting-edge Japanese technology. This year, for the first time, this program is being offered in Pakistan.
  
The program works as following:
(1) Sending Organization in Pakistan needs to contact Receiving Institution/Organization in Japan.
(2) Receiving organization in Japan needs to formulate visitation program, in cooperation with sending organization. If specific field or activity is desired by sending organization, such as robotic, physics, chemistry or visit to Sony, Cannon factory and so on is desired to be included in the program, then this is the time to negotiate with Receiving Organization. There will be a limit on what can be done, but there is no harm in expressing the interest of students/teachers of sending organization.
(3) Once the schedule/activity plan is formulated by Receiving Organization, this plan needs to be submitted to JST by Receiving Organization as an application.
(4) If this application is approved, then receiving organization will receive funding and sending organization can send students/teachers/scientists to Japan and experience the field study tour.

Interested educational institutions in Pakistan can apply for this program between October and November 2016. 
Earlier submissions will have more chances of approval.

The Government of Canada launched the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program in 2008 to strengthen Canada’s ability to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and establish Canada as a global centre of excellence in research and higher learning. Vanier Scholars demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and/or humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering and health.
canadaUp to 167 scholarships are awarded annually.
A total of up to 500 scholarships are active at any time.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing Ph.D. level at Canadian universities.
Study Subject(s): Scholarships are provided to study any one of the courses offered by the Canadian universities.
Scholarship Award: Each Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship is valued at $50,000 per year.
Scholarship can be taken in Canada
Eligibility: Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada and foreign citizens are eligible to be nominated for a Vanier CGS. To be considered for a Vanier CGS, applicants must:
  • be nominated by only one Canadian institution, which must have received a Vanier CGS quota;
  • be pursuing your first doctoral degree (including joint undergraduate/graduate research program such as MD/Ph.D., DVM/Ph.D., JD/PhD – if it has a demonstrated and significant research component). Note that only the Ph.D. portion of a combined degree is eligible for funding;
  • intend to pursue, in the summer semester or the academic year following the announcement of results, full-time doctoral (or a joint graduate program such as: MD/PhD, DVM/PhD, JD/PhD) studies and research at the nominating institution; Note that only the Ph.D. portion of a combined degree is eligible for funding;
  • not have completed more than 20 months of doctoral studies as of May 1, 2017 (see calculating months of doctoral studies below);
  • have achieved a first-class average, as determined by your institution, in each of the last two years of full-time study or equivalent. Candidates are encouraged to contact the institution for its definition of a first-class average
  • must not hold, or have held, a doctoral-level scholarship or fellowship from CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC to undertake or complete a doctoral degree.
Nationality: International students can apply for these Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships.

COMMONWEALTH GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2017
The Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination, Government of Pakistan has assigned the task of conducting the Local GRE-General test for Higher Studies to the National Testing Services (NTS).
Applications are invited for studying abroad under the Commonwealth General Scholarships Program for the year 2017. Scholarships are fully funded and final selection will be made by the donor country.
Scholarships are expected to be offered by United Kingdom, New Zealand and other commonwealth countries.

Following Degree Holders Can Apply:
  • A candidate must hold a Masters Degree/ MBA / B.Sc Honors (4 years), from a recognized University or equivalent qualification.
  • Students awaiting result are not eligible to apply.

Applications must be received by NTS not later than Monday, 19th September, 2016.

Job Description

Program Background Summary: Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) is five years USAID funded project starting June 2013 with the objective to support the provincial and regional departments of education (DoE) throughout Pakistan to improve reading skills of at least 1.3 million children in grade one and two. The goal will be supported by three interrelated components including improved classroom learning environment for reading, improve policies and systems for reading and community based support for reading in Pakistan. The anticipated results include 23,800 teachers in 23,800 public schools with improved skills in teaching reading,3,649 scholarships for ADE and B.Ed (Hons) students, mobile bus libraries  reaching out to 300 communities.
Job Overview/Summary:
Major Responsibilities:
  • The School Support Associate will:
  • Facilitate in-service professional development activities in the UC/Tehsil/District that include face-to-face trainings, follow-ups and roll out of TIG activities.
  • Support teachers in implementing newly learned concepts and skills through regular follow-up support visits to schools.
  • Work in close collaboration with teachers, head teachers and  concerned education officer(s) in preparing and implementing school/ union council/ tehsil based reading improvement plans and strategies
  • Assist District Program Manager in managing administrative and logistic issue for a smooth implementation of program activities in the district.
  • Assist District Program Manager in developing monthly cash projection against program activities, disbursement of project beneficiary allowances, district based procurement (as and where needed) and maintaining update financial and compliance records/matters.
  • Assist District Program Manager in compiling monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports by providing updated and accurate information from field. In addition, collect and share success stories from the field to highlight impact of the program.
  • Prepare/partake in detailed weekly/monthly plans including field travels/school visits while adhering to quarterly/annual/LoP work plan targets and indicators.
  • Ensure proper record keeping of the TIG meetings, follow-up visit, and teacher observation tools and reporting those to the district office accordingly.
  • Support teachers in maintaining portfolios with up to the mark quality
  • Assist the district, provincial and national offices in undertaking monitoring and data collection tasks.
  • Collect content analytics from tablets
  • Provide updated contents,  and first level support to tablet users about tablet and multimedia contents

Education: B. Ed (Hons.) or Associate Degree in Education or graduates with a certificate/ degree in education will be given a preference
Work Experience
  • Not required for ADE and B.Ed (Hons.) graduates
  • At least one year teaching experience at primary/elementary school level for graduates with a certificate/ degree in education
  • Experience as teacher trainer will be preferred
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
  • Ability to facilitate teacher professional development activities and model best practices in teaching.
  • Good interpersonal and coordination/communication skills, both verbal and written in Urdu and English (Knowledge of local languages will be an additional asset)
  • Good information sharing and report writing skills.
  • Good computer skills in MS office
  • Working knowledge on Android tablets and smart phones (will be preferred)
  • Willingness to work in and travel to remote areas and a diverse environment
  • Flexible, motivated, team player and fast to learn
  • Fluent in Urdu and dominant local language (s)
